The Foundation Board has chosen the philosopher and sociologist Jürgen Habermas as the winner of the Peace Prize 2001. The award ceremony took place on 14 October 2001 in the St. Pauls Church in Frankfurt am Main. The laudatory speech was given by Jan Philipp Reemtsma.
