The Board of Trustees of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade has chosen the Turkish author Orhan Pamuk to be the winner of the Peace Prize 2005. The award ceremony took place on Sunday, 23 October 2005 in the St. Pauls Church in Frankfurt am Main. The laudatory speech was given by Joachim Sartorius.
